McCloud offers challenges

McCloud River - CA (Siskiyou County)

Some anglers are finding good fishing while others are working hard for their fish. Water conditions are good, but they can also vary due to glacial run-off in Mud Creek. We are not worried about the conditions and neither should you be worried. We are excited about fishing this stream through September. Right now is a good time to fish the McCloud because crowds are light, fishing pressure isn't a big factor.. and the fish are not as selective as they can be in the spring. Let's fish! There is not much dry fly action, as fishing has been best for anglers suspending dark-bodied nymphs in #14-18 under indicators. High stick and short-line techniques will work great with the current water conditions, too. Ted Fay Fly Shop (530) 235-2969; The Fly Shop (530) 222-3555
