I took a ride through the park today before writing this report and saw so much beauty I had to snap a few shots to share with you. Go to our Collins Lake Facebook page to see the video I shot of today’s trophy trout plant, it was amazing!!
I ran into the Baio family on the deck and heard their fishing story of how they caught three trout and a bass today. When he showed me Samantha and Gordon’s pictures I was amazed how awesome those fish were. They caught a 3 lb. 3 oz. trout along with a 2 lb. 8 oz. and 1 lb. 6 oz. Then they hooked a nice Bass that weighed in at 2 lb. 7 oz. I got so excited when I saw their pictures, I forgot to ask them what they used but they were in a boat trolling for sure.
Just today Jim La Barbiera brought up his trophy trout for a photo. His biggest was 4 lb 8 oz. which he caught on chartreuse PowerBait by the dam.
The Cortez Family from San Jose caught a limit of trout near the Open Area while shore fishing. Thomas & Bethany Knottingham from Yuba City had a wonderful day fishing and she caught two and he caught five trout from shore.
Joan Turner hooked some gorgeous trout while trolling her favorite Sep’s Dodger trailing a worm. Most were caught in Elmer’s Cove near the store.
Jim & Nick Palmer from Milpitas caught 9 trout on PowerBait near the dam.
Ethan & his Papa took home 4 nice Rainbows and they fished from shore in the Open Area on P.Bait
Shore fishing is the best way to catch trout this time of year if you don’t have a boat you definitely have superb access to the shoreline with your vehicle.
Trolling will be nothing short of amazing once the lake settles down from all the recent rains (which filled the lake). Along with the influx of water comes silt and mud. Each day the clarity gets better, right now it’s about 1′ of good visibility but by the end of next week it could be 3′. We monitor that and post it to the front page of our website for you.
