The Jackson County Parks Department and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a Family Fishing Day on Saturday, May 14, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Rods, reel, tackle, and bait will be available. ODFW staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide instruction and assistance. Plus, there will a couple of presentations. Howard Prairie was stocked last week with legal-sized and trophy rainbow trout, so fishing should be good for this event. Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass should be improving as well. The boat ramp and marina at the Howard Prairie Resort are open. The boat ramp at Willow Point is open. The rest of the ramps will open on May 13. The lake is now 75 percent full.
