Water Conditions:

Gull Lake has been producing some nice Cutts lately.
Silver Lake has been fishing the best of all the lakes in the Loop. Don't forget to bring a few layers of long underwear, because it is still cold in the morning and evening. June Lake has been the forgotten water and unfortunately I won't be able to fish it till Fri.,to late for the mailing.I was able to go to the June Lake Marina for a visual and watched a lot of nice fish sipping midges along the tules midafternoon and also saw unbelievable # of chubs gathering around the shallows to spawn.Lets see?Ķbaitfish fry hatching soon, lots of big Cutthroat and Rainbows cruising the dropoffs?Ķhmmmm not to mention the great evening surface grab starting soon on the swimming beach flats, stay tuned!

Fishing Conditions and Hatches:

The water in all of these fisheries is still cool. Rush Creek is at 91 cfs below Grant Lake and 65 cfs below Silver Lake. Fishing Conditions and Hatches:
Silver lake is still fishing good with recent larger fish being taken stripping Matukas and using mayfly and midge nymphs under an indicator with a floating line. Gull Lake has been producing with streamers as well but the better fishing has been midging along the edges of the dead tule beds along the west side.Assorted midge patterns early and callibaetis nymphs midday.Even in the snowstorm last Sunday we saw mayflys hatching so with improved weather that should really take off.Lots of fat planters and occasional big Alpers plants. There are a lot of nice cutthroats but they're looking for a stream to spawn in,not eating.Don't let them drive you crazy, just enjoy the show. No great reports on Rush Creek yet although it may be worth a try with attractor nymphs. Fishing the creek above Grant Lake in the exposed lake bottom has slowed way down.

Recommended Flies:

-Streamers-
Doc's Twin Lake Special in olive or Brown, Matukas, Pop's Bugger in Black or Olive, Ruby Eye Leech, Mini Leech, Ext Body Leech
-Nymphs-
#18Tiger or Zebra Midge, #18 OptiMidge in Gray or Olive, #16 Copper John, #16 Prince Nymph, #16 F/B Pheasant Tails, and callibaetis nymp

Guides Hint: At Silver Lake, fish the back side around the weeds with either sinking lines and streamers or a midge pattern and a pheasant tail with an indicator. Don't be afraid to move from spot to spot after you have hooked a few fish.
