Weather looks to be great this week and fishing has been good on the Applegate. As fishing closes on Saturday, March 31 this is the week to get out there and catch a steelhead. The river continued to fish well over the weekend. Reports indicate fish being caught (including hatchery fish) throughout the river and the catch rate has distributed throughout the system.
Cleos, pink rubber worms and fly-fishing all work well on the Applegate.
A lot of the fish being caught are wild fish and must be released unharmed. Only hatchery steelhead may be retained. See 2018 sport fishing regulations for more information.
