Figuring Out What They Want to Eat!

Hunewill Pond - (Mono County)

The pond changed around this week quite a bit, we had all good reports from out there. There was lots of leech action as well as some dry and dry/dropper action. It seems as though the toughest part of the pond lately has been figuring out what they want to eat and how they want to eat it day by day. One day they were all over hopper patterns on top and the next day all they wanted to eat was leeches. If you’re heading to the pond you should be prepared with both wet and dry flies as well as some small midge patterns. Patterns that saw action this week include: simi seal leeches, mayer’s mini leeches, stillwater nymphs, seal buggers, twin lakes specials, soft hackles, flashback emergers, zebra midges, micro mayflies, para hoppers and stimulators.
