LEE VINNING CREEK

Water Conditions:
Water flow has dropped to 34 c.f.s above Hwy 395 and 33 c.f.s. below Hwy 395 as of 7/28/08. The water is clear, but the fish are spooky. Water temps are staying in t he 60's.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches:

Lee Vining Creek has different characteristics in different sections. From the power plant in the lower canyon down to Mono Lake it is pretty overgrown and access can be tight in most places. It is fished best with a lighter weight and shorter rod. If you can endure some bushwacking and losing some flys, you can be rewarded with a fun day. Above the campgrounds, the water gets slow and gin clear. Wet wading is your best bet, along with a lot of stealth. We recommend a dry, such as a Stimulator with a stone fly dropper. There are still a good number of natives and stockers at the end of the meadow where the creek starts to rise up toward the high lakes. Good Luck!
