The Necanicum has a hatchery winter steelhead release and these tend to be early returning fish. We are at the prime time for this basin, and there was a push of fish on the last rain. North coast rivers are predicted to go up late this week with the incoming weather, but the Necanicum drops fast and should be one of the first back in shape after the rains. Hatchery fish should be present throughout January, and there is decent catch-and-release fishing for wild fish in February and March. Fish this small basin on the drop after rain events for the best action.
