Big water should not deter you from fishing this time of year as early season can be one of the best times to go. With most of the water coming out of Lake Tahoe, the river is running clear and fishing smaller BWO and Midge patterns is still an option. Skwala stones are starting up and are the big calorie option for these fish and should not be overlooked. Worms also tend to work well during times of high water. Remember to use a significant amount of weight and target the slower water to find the trout! The patient angler might even find a hatch on top of skwalas mid-day or BWO’s on overcast days.

FLOWS:
Tahoe City: 1,130 CFS Glenshire: 1,360 CFS Boca Conf.: 2,100 CFS Farad: 2,100 CFS

RECOMMENDED GEAR:
9-10 Ft. 5-7 Wt. Rod with 3-5x Tippet Flys: BWO’s, Midges, Skwala Stones, Winter Stones, Worms
