Water conditions:
Water Temps: Mid 60's
Flow: 45 CFS. This is a permanent flow required to be maintained by LADWP The air temps will be in the 90's. In the morning the temps will be in the 40's to 50's. I would fish from 6:30 AM to 10 AM in the morning. Fish from 5:00 to dark in the evening. Avoid anytime in between. The over growth around the river is bad with nettles and weeds.
Fishing Conditions and Hatches:
Hoppers are all over the gorge right now. Caddis and midge hatches are still steady.
Make sure to bring water, a light zip-off pants, a light weight shirt, wading staff (for hiking and snakes) and get out by 10 AM.
Recommended Flies:
Dries-
Hemingway Caddis #16-18, Elk Hair Caddis #14-18, Parachute Caddis #14-18, Parachute Hopper #12-14, Royal Wulff #14-16 and Parachute Adams #14-20
Nymphs-
WD-40 in Olive or Black #18-20, Pheasant Tails #16-18, Sparkle Caddis #18, Tiger Midge #18-20, Micro Stone #16-18 and Copper John #18-20
Guides Hint: Bring your 2 each of your favorite flies and a few bottles of water. Make everything simple for the Gorge. That's the beauty of the Gorge, Simplicity!
