Early in the day is the name of the game on the Truckee River for trout. Water temps are creeping up towards 68F in the afternoon but dropping overnight. The afternoons are a great time to give the trout a break when the temps rise and a chance to chase warm water species, like our local bass and carp.

Swing by the shop and we can help with details.

The mornings and at sundown are fishing great. Nymphing with larger flies as crayfish and attractor nymphs seem to bring the most fish to the net.

Flies that we suggest: Perdigon Black, Spanish Bullet, Quill Jig, Hot Spot, CDC Red Tag, Carot, Tunghead Stonefly, Cone head Stonefly, G6 Caddis, Jawbreaker, Joe’s Mini Cray, Elk Hair Caddis, Stimulator
