EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Anglers are finding good fishing for rainbow trout. Some are taking home limits of the tasty fish. The fish are taking PowerBait, night crawlers, and emerger flies. Largemouth bass are hitting plastics and crankbaits. Bass are catch-and-release only through June 30. Campgrounds are limited to half capacity.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Water levels and aquatic plant growth are affecting some access for shore anglers. Largemouth bass and crappies have been hitting well on jigs and plastics. Trout action is good in the morning and slows as afternoon temperatures climb toward 90 degrees. Campgrounds are limited to half capacity.

LAKE MEAD

Shore anglers are reporting largemouth bass, catfish and striper catches throughout the Overton Arm and down to Callville Bay. Try anchovies for a catfish or striper bite and soft plastics for largemouth. In Government Wash, smallmouth bass activity has picked up. The fish are taking a variety of jigs and soft plastics. Some anglers are also having luck with Kastmaster lures. For bluegill try throwing out a night crawler. Hemenway is producing stripers in the 2- to 4-pound range, with the best action taking place in the early morning or late into the evening

LAKE MOHAVE

Anglers fishing for striped bass are reportedly catching large fish with trout swimbaits thrown from shore. The bite picks up in the early morning hours but slows considerably during the midday hours. Kayakers are catching rainbow trout in the deeper water. South of Willow Beach, smallmouth bass are taking crankbaits. For a largemouth bass bite on the lake, try fishing a green pumpkin worm near Katherine Landing.  For smallmouth try using chigger craws or topwater shad baits.

LAUGHLIN

Striped bass are biting just south of Davis Dam and south through the  Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area. Anglers are reporting that fish weighing up to 14 pounds are taking anchovies fished from boat or shore. Catfish can be found hiding in the shadows of vegetation along the shoreline of the river. Few reports of black bass action have come in, but a Ned rig has been effective for largemouth and a crankbait for smallmouth

WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

Trout are hitting on spinners fished just below the surface early in the morning and taking worms fished below a bobber. Warm days are bringing the bass out in the late morning. A few reminders: Bass are catch-and-release at Dacey Reservoir, and there is a 5-bass limit at Adam's McGill, Cold Springs, and Haymeadow until July 1st. Also, there is a 50-fish limit on bullhead catfish at both the Kirch and Key Pitman WMAs. The limit on trout is always one fish at Dacey Reservoir and five on the other waters on the management area.

URBAN PONDS

Saturday (June 13) is Free Fishing Day but due to COVID-19 there will be no special events this year. The Nevada Department of Wildlife has recently planted both catfish and bluegill. Both the catfish and bluegill are taking corn and night crawler pieces. Fishing is best in the morning when the parks open or towards sunset where access is available. Recreate responsibly by practicing social “fishtancing” and giving your fellow angler space to fish. Remember to pack out what you packed in. Put unwanted fishing line in recycling bins provided for that purpose or in trach receptacles.
