The world famous Barge Hole opener looms right around the corner. The numbers of salmon in the upper Sacramento River above the Red Bluff Diversion Dam are impressive. Anglers looking for that big hard fighting king salmon will not have to wait long to yell "FishOn!" This Saturday August 1st marks the official opening of the Sacramento River above the Red Bluff Diversion Dam upriver through the Deschutes Bridge in Anderson California.
Sardine wrapped "old style" kwikfish plugs should be all it takes to trigger a violent strike at daybreak on Saturday. This section of Sacramento River will remain open through December 31st this season.
Reports coming out of the Golden Gate recently have been limit style fishing for some fishing the Pacific. This is terrific news for the river anglers as these big bright king salmon will make the long journey upriver towards Coleman National Fish hatchery.
Salmon fishing has been going well early this week as you can see from the video and pics.
