EAST WALKER RIVER
The river flow has been raised to 90 cfs as of yesterday, it had been sitting around 30 or 40 for most of the week. The fishing has been pretty good on some days and not as good on other days. We’ve had reports ranging from just a few fish per angler to some reports of 15 to 20 fish per angler. We’re starting to also get some reports of some larger fish taping into the mid 20 inch range. There’s been a little bit of everything going on as far as metnods to catch fish, we’ve had some good dry/dropper reports, streamer reports, a couple good straight dry reports and of course the nymphing is probably the best method, as usual. The water clarity has gotten much better the last couple weeks which has also made things nicer down there. Some of the flies that have been working are: dead drift crayfish, zuddlers, sculpzilla, double bunny, parachute adams, elk hair caddis, madam-x, chubby Chernobyl, flashback emerger, san juan worm, jig worms, zebra midge, dark lord, wd-40.
SCEIRINE RANCH
The Ranch is also fishing pretty well these days with some very good dry/dropper days as well as some good nymphing days. With the cooler water temperatures the fish are very happy and healthy with lots of browns and good numbers of rainbows being caught down there. Give us a call ahead of time if you want to book some time on the ranch.
HUNEWILL POND
The pond had a couple pretty tough days this week with just a few fish being caught on the 2 or 3 days we had anglers out there. The fish that were caught were caught on small leech patterns and soft hackles. Not sure why the bite was off but when it livens up we’ll let you know about it.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
Bridgeport has been kicking out some nice fish lately, not really huge numbers but some quality fish up to just over 7 pounds have been making a showing. The trolling has been producing some fish with night crawlers, needlefish, Rapalas and Thomas Bouyants while the bait anglers have been using pinched crawlers, inflated night crawlers, power bait and mice tails. There have been some goood fish caught from the shore this past week but it seems like the boat anglers are doing the best.
KIRMAN LAKE
We were contacted by one angler this past week who fished Kirman for 4 or so hours one day and was able to catch one 14 inch brookie, he told us that during his time on the water he saw just a few other fish rise and just had the one hook-up. Of course not a stellar day but certainly good news to hear that there is at least something going on up there.
TWIN LAKES
Like Bridgeport, the Twins haven’t been producing huge numbers of fish but the fish that are being caught are very good quality, some up to nearly 7 pounds. There have been some fish caught on bait like crawlers and power bait as well as trolling with Rapalas, needlefish and Tazmanian Devils. Haven’t heard from any fly anglers up there lately but you should be able to pull some fish with matukas, buggers and soft hackles.
WEST WALKER RIVER
Most of the reports we’ve been getting from the West have been fairly slow but we did talk to a few anglers who worked over some of the boulder water in the canyon and caught lots of fish, nothing really huge but good numbers. They said you just needed to search out the deeper plunge pools behind the boulders and you could almost always get a fish our two out of those holes. Small spinners, eggs and baby crawlers did the trick for them.
VIRGINIA LAKES
The Virginias have been a little tough lately with just a few fish being caught here and there. There’s still been a few nice native brookies being caught and a few larget rainbows as well but the action is a bit slow overall. Pinched crawlers and inflated night crawlers have produced some fish as well as Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters in the early morning and late evening.

RANDOM INFORMATION:
We’ve been pretty lucky in the smoke department here in Bridgeport lately, there were a couple bad smoke days but most days it’s not bad at all. Of course this can change depending on which way the wind blows. There are still fire restrictions in the area and those will probably remain in effect until some weather blows in.
