On Hot Creek, the fish are filling up on midges, mayflies, and a few caddis. Access to the Interpretive Site is decent, with some mud and a smidgen of snow left over. Walking to the creek, there is about 60 percent snow on the banks and 40 percent dirt. Dry dropper rigs have been good in the mornings with egg patterns and small nymphs and midges working very well throughout the day. The canyon section is still walk in only and there is much less pressure down below. A short and not too difficult hike down to the creek can be worth the walk.
