The reservoir is sitting at 40% today and is filling slowly, my guess is we will see these same flows through the month and maybe into the beginning of April as they try to store as much water as possible through the spring. The BWO’s have been hatching in the afternoon on cloudy days and we are seeing a few Skwala crawling around near the shoreline.
Fishing the hatch around midday is going to be the best time to get into some actively feeding fish, look for the sunny spots in the canyon where the water will heat up quicker than other zones. As always nymphing under a small yarn indicator or using a dry dropper rig is going to be a great way to delicately present smaller mayfly and midge nymphs to fish. Focus on deeper pools and tailors but don't be afraid to pick through some pockets, even with this shallow water.
Suggested Dries: Parachute Purple Haze #18-20, Para Wulff Purple #16-18, Tilt Wing Dun BWO #18-20, BWO Sparkle Dun #18-20.
Suggested Nymphs: Poxy Golden #10-12, Trout Retriever Gold #8-10, Jigged Copper John #14-18, Perdigon black or purple #16-18, Twisted May #14-16, Zika Jig #18-20, Two Bit Hooker #18-22, Juju Baetis #18-22.
