LAKE MEAD – The bite is picking up for black bass, striped bass, and catfish all over the Boulder Basin. Black bass anglers are reporting success using jerkbaits, jigs, and soft plastics. A variety of swimbaits and anchovies are tempting stripers from both shore and boat. Catfish are eager to take anchovies throughout Government Wash. In the Virgin Basin, anglers using tube jigs are finding schools of crappie.

LAKE MOHAVE/ WILLOW BEACH – Willow Beach shore anglers are catching 1- to 2-pound rainbow trout. Green glitter PowerBait is the bait of choice. Kayakers also are catching trout with Rooster Tails just south of the marina. The black bass bite is hot all over the lake. The fish are becoming increasingly aggressive as the spawn commences. Anglers are reporting hard hits on soft plastic worms and craws in green pumpkin.

LAUGHLIN – Striped bass in the 1- to-4-pound range have been caught through casino row. Anchovies and trout swimbaits are recommended choices. Black bass anglers are targeting the area of Laughlin Lagoon and Big Bend State Recreation Area. Rainbow trout stockings have ended for the season, but fish are still taking spinnerbaits and nightcrawlers in areas with cover.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS – Dur to warm water temperatures above 55 degrees, seasonal trout plants are done for the year. A few anglers are still catching trout PowerBait or night crawlers. Trout will sometimes bite into May. Dropshot rigs and spinnerbaits are enticing bass at Floyd Lamb Park.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA – Trout fishing is good across the reservoirs. 18- to 24-inch trout are taking nymphs, Woolly Buggers, and Rooster Tails. Anglers on Adams-McGill are catching fish with trout and night crawlers. For black bullhead catfish, try a night crawler two to three feet below a water bobber, or a light weight with a nightcrawler a foot up from the bottom.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR – Tiger and rainbow trout are hitting for both shoreline anglers and boaters. Anglers finding success with night crawlers or marshmallows. Fly-fishers are catching fish with tan and olive Woolly Buggers and nymphs. Bass are catch and release only until June 30. Campers have full amenities at Spring Valley State Park, and it is getting busy with spring traffic. Look for upcoming fishing events in the park.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR – Anglers are finding good fishing for rainbow trout. The fish are taking worms and a variety of PowerBait colors. Fishing is picking up as the water level rises. Bass action also is beginning to pick up. All amenities are available for park visitors.
