- Stocking: The last stocking was the week of July 12th. The next catfish stocking is this week! Another 1,000 pounds will go into the lake for a total of 6000 pounds so far this season. For an up to date stocking schedule, click HERE.
- What's the catch? Catfish limits were caught off of the t-dock this weekend. With the lake elevation lowered the best fishing will be in the deeper parts of the lake such as the t-dock, Cloister Cove, and around the tower buoy line. Bass are being reeled in from shore and by boat. Find a spot with some tree cover and structure to cast in to. Don't forget to pick up some roboworms or Senkos in the bait shop. We heard reports of panfish in Eagle Cove. Panfish are going to bite throughout the day and in that shallower water if you can't snag a boat rental. Make sure to have some meal/wax worms handy!
- Lake Hours: Please note with July coming to an end, the lake hours have changed. We are open Fridays, 3:00 p.m. to Midnight, Saturdays, 6:00 a.m. to Midnight, and Sundays, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Shoreline fishing is available to all from the campground form 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EVERY DAY!
- Conditions: The district has finished the draft of the lake. The lake level should be stable for a while. The current temperature is 76 degrees. New Moon is Sunday, August 8th. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
- Job Openings: We're hiring for several positions at the lake. We are looking for two part-time Assistant Recreation Rangers to work in the bait shop as well as an Assistant Maintenance Ranger to help maintain the property and facilities. In our campground, we are currently hiring for a Volunteer Park Host. Park Hosts work in our campground in exchange for a campsite that includes water and electricity under a month-to-month lease agreement. If you are interested in finding out more information regarding these positions, visit the Helix Water District's Career Page.
- Lakefront Firepit Rentals: Firepit rentals are available at the lake Friday, August 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. They are $72 per pit and can accommodate up to 6 people. Wood, fire starter, and Adirondack chairs are included. Fees and advance reservation are required. No four-legged friends please! You can rent a firepit online by clicking HERE. If you'd like to purchase any of our add-on packages, i.e. s'mores kit, tailgate party, glow party, etc. call (619) 596-1306.
- Campground News: The campground shoreline is open to the public for fishing every day 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Buy a fishing permit at the campground kiosk and enjoy access to the Sentry Point shoreline. Don't forget to take a pic in the big green chair and tag us so we can load a free fishing permit on to your account!
- We love receiving pictures from our fishermen and campers! If you have a picture to share, please send it to [email protected] and we may feature it in our newsletter or social media pages.
