EAST WALKER RIVER August 08, 2021

We’ve had a couple nice cold nights this past week but unfortunately it hasn’t been enough to drop the water temps to safe levels yet. I’m hoping that we can get through the next 3 to 4 weeks staying off the water then hopefully the weather will start to change and our daytime temps will drop and with that the water temps will also drop. We’ll let you know as soon as the things shape up down there!

SCEIRINE RANCH August 08, 2021

As with the California side of the river it’s time to let the ranch rest, most of the reservations we had for the next 5 weeks or so have been canceled, we have a couple still on the books that we don’t have contact information on, if you have a reservation between now and September, please give us a call and we can get you off the books and book dates for later in the season when the temperatures come down. 760-932-7707

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR August 08, 2021

The action on the Reservoir has been overall pretty slow though there has been a few fish being caught here and there. With limited angling pressure we haven’t been able to get too many reports but we have talked to a couple anglers who caught a couple fish with bait over off of Rainbow Point as well as one angler who caught a nice rainbow from the shore near the dam. As with the East Walker, hopefully in 3 or 4 weeks the water temps will come down and the action will improve.

TWIN LAKES August 08, 2021

The Twins have still been producing some good fish lately, lots of nice 2 to 5 pound rainbows, a couple 4+ pound browns and lots of kokanee. The Twin Lakes Trout Foundation as well as the Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Foundation planted fish last week in the Twins and Robinson Creek so there are quite a few of those fish making a showing. Bait anglers are having some success with power bait, mice tails, pinched crawlers and inflated night crawlers, early morning and late evening lure anglers are catching a few with Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters.

WEST WALKER RIVER August 08, 2021

We’re still getting a few good reports from the West, there’s been some nice fish being caught in the canyon section off of Highway 395 closer to the town of Walker as well as a few fish being caught in the Pickle Meadows area. Salmon eggs and night crawlers have been working for bait, Panther Martins and Mepps spinners have been good for lures. Fly anglers have been having some success with hoppers, royal wulff, ants and stimulators.

VIRGINIA LAKES August 08, 2021

The Virginias are still producing some good fish, like the other waters in the area not red hot but still kicking out some nice fish for anglers that are putting their time. Power bait, pinched crawlers and mice tails are hooking some fish as well as Kastmasters, Sierra Slammers and Thomas Bouyants. Fly anglers can go with mini leeches, soft hackles, beetles and mosquitos.

RANDOM INFORMATION: Most days we haven’t had too much smoke but there were 2 or 3 days this week that were pretty smokey. As the wind changes direction the smoke situation changes as well. Today on a scale of 1 to 10 I’d say the smoke is about a 2, hopefully it will stay light in the future. Coming up for Labor Day weekend the Fishin’ Mission Foundation has scheduled their annual concert and bbq for Saturday September 4 and tickets are on sale now. The Fishin’ Mission Foundation, Walker River Outfitters and Ken’s Sporting Goods are also planning our annual East Walker River Clean-up day for Monday September 6.
