The Rogue Bay has been busy with anglers. Folks trolling from boats and bank anglers have both been successful at catching Chinook and steelhead. There have also been a few reports of hatchery coho being caught. Anglers will want to make sure and release wild steelhead.
This is only the beginning of the fall Chinook run and the estuary fishery will be the best spot for anglers to target fall Chinook until river temperatures drop and flows pick up. Bank anglers have been having some pretty good success fishing downstream of Indian Creek at lower tides.
The Huntley Park seining season is in full swing. The crew has been seeing a good number of half-pounder and adult steelhead as well as adult and jack Chinook pass through. Anglers looking to target half-pounder steelhead will likely have some good luck throwing spinners up near Agness. ODFW has lifted the 2 p.m. fishing closure between Lobster and Hog creeks. Counts from this project will be updated every two weeks and can be found here.
