Fall River has had lots of productive fishing. The forecast is showing some cold and foggy nights and mornings for this week, we’ll see if this holds true. Pale morning duns will probably still be around for a week or two. Blue wing olives are starting to be the predominant hatch. There are a few October caddis that hatch at the Fall, the dries can work well in a dry-dropper rig or as a searching pattern near dark. Nothing new to report for nymphs, smaller is better. Size 18 - 22 olive or black mayfly patterns and size 18 - 22 midges are the bread and butter of the Fall River. The October caddis pupas aren’t super common in the drift but if you try the usual midges and small mayflies with no success, you may as well try a big orange pupa. If that doesn’t work, put a streamer in the water and find a fish that wants to play fetch.
Suggested Dries: X-Caddis #14-20, Black, Tan or Olive Elk Hair Caddis #14-18, Parachute PMD #16-18, Tilt Wing PMD #16-18, Hackle Stacker PMD #14-16, Purple Haze #16-20, Sparkle Dun BWO #16-20, Hackle Stacker BWO #16-22, Olive Haze #16-18, Tilt Wing BWO #16-18, Parachute Adams #16-20
