EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Anglers have been doing well from shore. Trout are averaging 10 to 12 inches. Bass are still hitting lines later in the day, and trout fishing has been best throughout the morning hours. Anglers are using worms and PowerBait with great success. Morning temperatures have been below freezing. The boat launch ramp is closed due to low water levels. Check with Spring Valley State Park for more details.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Rainbow trout have been biting well for the few anglers working the lake. Pink, orange, and green PowerBait have been productive. So have  small spinners. Dark-colored Woolly Buggers are effective for both trout and bass. Aquatic vegetation is subsiding along most of the shorelines. While the water is still low, be prepared for muddy shorelines.

LAKE MEAD 

 Anglers are enjoying an increase in black bass action throughout Las Vegas Bay. Both largemouth and smallmouth are taking a mix of topwater lures and crankbaits in shad and trout patterns. Soft plastics in green pumpkin and watermelon are working well too. Striped bass are showing a preference for walking baits and live shad if you can net them. Boils are being reported throughout the area of Temple Bar from first light to about noon. The Boulder Beach fishing pier is a hotspot for catfish when using stink baits and worms.

LAKE MOHAVE/WILLOW BEACH

Water levels are low for fall razorback sucker conservation activities, making the boat launch inaccessible to many vessels. Shore anglers and kayakers have had some luck landing striped bass up to 12 pounds. Rainbow trout action is expected to pick up with cooler weather. PowerBait and worms are the go-to baits for trout this time of year. Anglers have reported catching black bass and stripers at the south end of the reservoir. Largemouth are biting soft plastics in the shallows. Smallies are taking walking baits in the early morning. For a striper bite, try locating coves with signs of shad. Crankbaits and topwater lures in shad patterns will attract the fish in those areas.

LAUGHLIN

The river is producing stripers up to 8 pounds for boaters using anchovies. Fish weighing in under 2 pounds are taking baits from shoreline anglers. Most action has been reported downriver, south of Big Bend State Recreation Area. Anglers are reporting smallmouth bass catches in the same area on soft plastics. Catfish are hitting chicken livers and anchovies fished near vegetation.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

The best action is taking place in the morning hours and again at sunset when the winds are calmest. Variable weather and high winds have made it challenging to fish throughout the day. Rainbow trout have been hitting on rainbow PowerBait, night crawlers and an assortment of quarter- to half-ounce spinning lures and spoons.

URBAN PONDS

Fishing has been sluggish. Hot dogs or night crawlers have been working well for cats. Don’t forget when fishing in the urban ponds that you must use a rod and reel. Seasonal rainbow trout plants when the waters are steadily cooler.
