We only fished for the fall run salmon a handful of times as it was very difficult to get excited with the poor run that was forcasted. As many of you called, I did my best to talk you out of going and apologize, but just real difficult to run a business when I already knew the results would be unhappy clients.
Well, we can forget about the poor salmon fishing this fall, because the late fall run salmon have started to appear and fishing is expected to be better than what we saw earlier in the year. The late fall run is a totally different run of salmon genetically from the fall run. These fish are typically bright, fresh out of the salt, with scales, put up a tremendous fight, and the table fare is absolutely wonderful.
We also have a new secret weapon to use that will not be available to the general public till Spring 2022. The Brads 360 Evolution Flasher!!! Teamed up with Brads Superbaits and Cut Plugs, this will revolutionize trolling as we all know it. I was invited up to Buoy 10 last year for research and development of this flasher and have seen the incredible adjustable action and we caught multiple fish while others around us only could watch. FALL STRIPERS
Since my boat is not put into a slip, I am mobile and can move around to where the action is. That being said, I can move from salmon fishing the metro area to fall striper action in the delta the next day. If you have never fishing fall stripers with me, we fish different than we do in the spring. In the Spring time is all about the troll. But in the fall, we switch to power drifting live bait and vertical jigging spoons. This technique is a lot of fun because we are using lighter gear and even the small fish will give you a run for your money!! And the action can be unbelievable!!! There are times when we cannot get our baits to the bottom because of the schools we find.
Just last week, we had a fairly slow day not finding a lot of fish concentrated most of the day. Good quality fish here and there till the tide changed, then all went nuts, including a double hook up with a 10 pounder and an 8 pounder.
