Castaic held at 30 percent of capacity, and fishing remained steady. Large and smallmouth bass went for finesse baits again last week. Senkos have been working well along bluff walls and main lake points, and most anglers switched to deeper drop shot, Carolina rigs, and Ned rigs later in the day. Green Pumpkin, shad, and purple plastics have been working the best. The bass started schooling up in deeper water, and anglers who use their electronics have been finding biting schools down to 40 feet deep. Spoons and ice jigs have been effective for the deeper bass. Trout got stocked again this week for the fifth time in as many weeks. Trout were planted five weeks in a row, and anglers have done well using dough baits, Mousetails, and Kastmasters to fool the stocker trout. The steady influx of trout got the swimbait bite going, and anglers reported good fishing for striper and bass near the marina. Anglers threw magnum topwater, Huddleston swimbaits, and glides to fool fish up to 20 pounds. Striper also went for trolled umbrella rigs and flies throughout the lake. Catfish have been fair for anglers using sardines, dip bait, and nightcrawlers
