The Trinity is still a solid choice destination with great fishing still in store. The hatchery continues reporting returning fish each week and the longer days means we are seeing more insects coming off each day. March Browns and Callibaetis are coming off for sure, look for PMDs to begin popping in the next week. Pay attention to what is coming off and you will find yourself hooked up more often. Golden Stones are a solid choice of fly right now, the Rolling Stone is a guide favorite. Psycho Princes, Pheasant Tails and all of the Euronymph jobbers are working too. The weather looks great over the next week and the larger fish are here. With fewer people fishing and some good weather, March is a great time to plan a trip to the T! Steelhead Fishing Can be Frustrating
These anadromous rainbow trout are known as the 'Fish of a Thousand Casts.' For good reason! The learning curve can be quite steep learning when and where to go, and what type of water to target. Recommended Equipment & Setups
Early Summer Run Steelhead on the Trinity River will take swung flies readily. Spey rods are becoming an increasingly popular method to swing flies.
