Water levels on the Crooked remain low, and fishing remains fair. Focus your efforts on the deeper water pockets that will hold fish. Nymphing remains the most vital technique for catching trout, and we have liked tiny midge nymphs and small red nymphs (small red CJ, red two-bit). BWOs might still be around on some days, but with the warmer temps we have to come this next week, I expect to see them give way to more caddis and PMDs. Keep an eye out for Skwala Stoneflies to start getting active as well. A size 12 stonefly nymph can be a good bet right now. The Crooked canyon is a beautiful place to spend a Spring day, and this time of year can be a great time to beat the summertime crowds.
