Steelhead are moving throughout the Wallowa River now with good numbers of fish arriving at the Wallowa Hatchery each day. Some of the best steelhead fishing on the Wallowa can occur between mid-March and mid-April. Fishing for trout and whitefish can also be good in the spring. Fishing conditions will be best when flows are lower, and fishing may be more difficult when the weather warms and the river rises.
