Apply for controlled hunts by midnight Sunday

Sunday, May 15 is the last day to apply for 2022 controlled hunts. We strongly suggest you get your application in as soon as possible to beat the last-minute scramble. Trout and Chinook continue as best bets for the weekend

• In some locations it could be a banner year for spring hatchery trout fishing. Due to poor water conditions last year and a bleak outlook for the summer, several districts are changing their trout stocking plans. Foregoing summer stocking and stocking more trout this spring when water conditions are better. Check for updates in the zone reports.
• Spring Chinook are showing up, and being caught, in several river systems including Nestucca Bay and tidewater, Tillamook Bay and Trask tidewater in the NW Zone. And in the Rogue and Umpqua basins in the SW Zone.

More Chinook days announced for lower Columbia

Clammers: Negative tides coming to a beach near you

Experienced clammers know that low/negative tides mean great clamming. There is a great series of low tides beginning this Saturday, May 14 and continuing through next week. So grab your shovels, check out our where-to-clam pages and be prepared to get muddy!
