Action: Restores the salmon and steelhead angling rules for the Wind River to those in the 2021-2022 Sport Fishing Rules Pamphlet; all other permanent rules remain in effect.
Effective date: June 9, 2022
Species affected: Salmon and steelhead
Location: Wind River – from the mouth to 800 yards downstream of Carson National Fish Hatchery. The mouth of the Wind River is defined by the buoy line markers south of the Highway 14 bridge.
Permanent Rule (through June 30, 2022): The salmon and hatchery steelhead daily limit is 6; up to 2 hatchery steelhead or 2 salmon, or 1 of each may be retained. From the mouth to 400 feet downstream of Shipherd Falls Fish ladder: Release wild Chinook and wild Coho.
Reason for action: The adult salmon daily limit on the Wind River was reduced earlier in the year to help ensure the Spring Chinook broodstock collection goal for Carson National Fish Hatchery was achieved. Returns of adult spring Chinook to the hatchery have been good and the broodstock collection goal is expected to be met, therefore a reduced daily limit is no longer necessary.
Additional information: Anglers are reminded to check the Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for additional information.
