Angler Ladd Campbell reported he'd caught a 42-pound common carp at Canyon Lake in late July. The current hook-and-line record is 37 pounds from Bartlett Lake. Ladd didn't want to kill the carp so he released it back into the lake. He says he's had great luck at Canyon Lake in the past, including catching a 13-pound, 2-ounce largemouth bass about five years ago.
