EAST WALKER RIVER
The East is still running a bit warm, however, it looks like the daytime highs for the next week are going to be much less than they have been which usually signals that the weather is really changing, we’re going to keep a close eye on it this week and hopefully the temps will drop enough this week and you’ll be able to get out there and fish it next week.
SCEIRINE RANCH
We’re starting to get a few calls for bookings on the ranch and with the weather starting to change we’ll probably be able to start getting anglers on the water next week some time, if you want to book a date, just give us a call.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
Bridgeport is of course still very low and green, there really hasn’t been anyone fishing it much lately, as with the East Walker, hopefully as the weather cools and some of the algae starts to go away the fishing will pick up out there, we’ll let you know as soon as this happens.
KIRMAN LAKE
No reports from Kirman lately, with the warmer weather it’s probably still best to hold off on going up there until the water/weather cools down a bit.
TWIN LAKES
The Twins are still producing some good fish, much like the last few weeks. The bait anglers are having some luck from the shore with power bait, mice tails and pinched crawlers, the lure anglers are doing the best in the early morning and late evening with Kastmasters, Thomas Bouyants and Jakes Spin a Lures. Fly anglers are getting into some good fish with Twin Lakes Specials, wooly buggers, seal buggers, soft hackles and zug bugs.
WEST WALKER RIVER
Had some pretty good reports from the West this week, some from the Sonora Bridge area on Hwy 108 and some from the canyon section along Hwy 395. Lure anglers had some success with Mepps, Roostertails and Panther Martins, bait anglers with salmon eggs, power eggs and crawlers. Fly anglers are still getting some with hoppers, stimulators, humpy’s, prince nymphs and hare’s ear nymphs.
VIRGINIA LAKES
The Virginias are doing ok lately if you can get out a little from the shore in a float tube or kayak, it seems that lots of fish are still fairly deep up there, especially on Big Virginia. For lures you can try speedy shiners and Kastmasters and mini jigs, for bait try pinched crawlers, mice tails and power bait. Fly anglers can try sinking lines with wooly buggers, seal buggers, stillwater nymphs, mini leeches and soft hackles.
If you would like to receive this report via email, drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll get you on the list!
RANDOM INFORMATION:
Many thanks for all your help with the petition we were running the last month or so in regards to the East Walker River regulations, we made it to 1625 signatures! Our local County Supervisor is working with people on the Fish and Wildlife Commission in the matter and hopefully we’ll start making some forward progress. I still have the petition going if you still want to sign, and will likely leave it open until our Supervisor requests the information for his meetings.
9/11, Never Forget.
