Pelican ice depth ranges from 14 inches in the bulrush stands to 6 inches in the main lake. There continues to be open water near the inlet area. Access is limited after this past storm. The main road to the ramp is plowed and you can easily get onto the ice. However, the slush is 2 to 3 inches deep with some areas up to 4 inches of slush. Snow depth on the lake varies from 2 to 6 inches with some areas drifting. Sportsman's access is not plowed, you will need four-wheel drive. There were no areas plowed along Highway 88 and parking is very difficult as the water has come up into some of the access areas. There is some space to park along the side of the Sportsman's access/HWY88 cutoff road. Water clarity is better, but fish of all species are still extremely finicky. Pelican Tagged Carp Project: Carp cash reward tags will now be increased to $100. Not all tags are winners, but to know, you must go to the website listed on the tag and enter the number. We encourage you to help with long-term carp management and bring your family and friends out to target carp using all legal methods of take. If you catch/bowfish a carp with a pink tag in it, please keep the tag and go to the website listed on the tag. Your tag could be worth some cash. Please call the DWR Vernal Region office at 435-781-9453 if you have questions about tagged carp.
