Brian Morgan of Glendale, Ariz., was at Woods Canyon Lake in early December when he caught a large tiger trout while fishing from a boat. It was 24.6 inches long and had a certified weight (by the Arizona Game and Fish Department) of 5 pounds and 11.84 ounces ̶ a new state record. He caught it on a Yakima Bait rooster tail spinner on an ultralight 6-foot Pflueger Fishing spinning combo (with 6-pound line). "The lake was half frozen, I had to break through half-inch ice in places," said Brian.
The previous tiger trout record in Arizona was 3 pounds, 16 ounces, 18.75 inches long, caught by Anthony Lerma at Morton Tank in May 2020.
