The Nestucca River is in pretty good shape after running high for the past several weeks. This river has just a bit more color when many other North Coast Rivers get clear, and is the authors pick for those searching for hatchery steelhead this weekend. This late in January there should be hatchery and wild (catch and release only for wilds) steelhead throughout the fishery. Last updated 1/24/23.
The Nestucca River is one of the North Coast most popular winter steelhead rivers and gets one of our largest hatchery releases. Hatchery winter steelhead on the Nestucca are from wild broodstock; as such they tend to mimic wild steelhead timing and there are hatchery steelhead available December through early April. The Nestucca has several good drift boat stretches and some good bank access on the upper river.
River levels and predictions for the Nestucca are available here.
