Current flow is around 1,400 cfs and temperature in the low-40s F.

Summer steelhead are still being caught, but many of these fish have gone up into tributaries to spawn. Trout fishing is open with a 5 fish daily bag limit for adipose fin-clipped (hatchery) trout. Non-adipose fin-clipped trout must be immediately released unharmed.

Wild winter steelhead over 24 inches may be harvested upstream of Hog Creek boat ramp starting Feb. 1 to April 30(1 per day, 3 per season). Please check out MyODFW for info on new validation and harvest tag requirements in the Rogue and South Coast Rivers.

Winter steelhead are being caught throughout the middle Rogue but they’re in pods and somewhat spread out. With flows holding somewhat steady, side drifting, lures or flies are all effective. Dial back brightness and size of presentation as water levels drop and clear. Target holding water in deeper pools and runs.

Current flow, temp and turbidity conditions for the Rogue can be found at the USGS stream gauges here, or checking the City of Grants Pass water page’s river data here.
