Isabella is at 24 percent capacity and the inclement weather has made fishing difficult. Our contacts reported a decent catfish bite in water up to 80-feet around shad schools. The shad are still in deep water and the catfish are chewing on them. Any vibrating jigs have been working. The Bass action has been fair, and they’ve been hanging off primary lake points in deeper water and can be caught with Heddon Sonars, ice jigs and spoons. Crappie fishing is fair to good near offshore structure in 25 to 35-feet of water. The last trout plant was four weeks ago, and the bite has slowed. Trout were coming with Pinched crawlers, spinners, garlic scented Powerbait, and minijigs. Boaters trolling near the dam with needlefish, Tasmanian Devils and Flicker-shad have found some takers. The Annual Isabella Lake Fishing Derby is scheduled from April 1st thru June 4th, 2023. For more information contact Copes Tackle or visit KernRiverValley.com.
