The mainstem Nehalem doesn’t have any hatchery steelhead releases, but there are wild steelhead available for catch-and-release fishing. The lower Nehalem looks like it will be going up a couple feet the end of this week, probably a combination of rain and snow melt. It’s hard to tell if will remain fishable, at the least it appears it will be on the high side of prime until the middle of next week.
The upper reaches of the Nehalem should be fishable through the week as long as there is access through the snow. All wild steelhead must be released unharmed. Avoiding long fights and handling will reduce stress on released fish
