EAST WALKER RIVER
The East is running at 856 cfs right now, the road to the Nevada side of the river is still closed due to flooding and sections of road getting somewhat washed out. I would expect the river to be very high for the opener, likely 800+cfs which makes it extremely difficult to fish, on a positive note, when the run-off starts to come down and it becomes more fishable, it will have been cleaned out nicely probably be mostly silt and weed free for a while.
SCEIRINE RANCH
Unfortunately you can’t get to the Sceirine right now due to the road closure, we’ll keep you posted when we hear anything about the road re-opening.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
Closed to fishing until April 29, 2023
KIRMAN LAKE
Closed to fishing until April 29, 2023
TWIN LAKES
Closed to fishing until April 29, 2023
WEST WALKER RIVER
The West is open to catch and release fishing with only artificial lures with barbless hooks this time of the year. We haven’t heard of any fishing activity there lately but when the weather warms up a bit at some point hopefully we’ll get some reports to pass on.
VIRGINIA LAKES
Closed to fishing until April 29, 2023

RANDOM INFORMATION:
As of today: Highway 395 South of Bridgeport is open with no restrictions or delays. Highway 395 North of Bridgeport is open but there is a small stretch near Topaz Lake that has just 1 lane open with a timed stoplight to let vehicles through, most times I’ve been through there the wait is less than 5 minutes or so. Highway 182 and Nevada Highway 338 are still closed, they are turning vehicles around at the CA/NV state line on the South end and near Wellington on the North end, this closure will likely be a while.
I took a drive up to Twin Lakes and the Reservoir this morning, both the Twins are still frozen, both lakes have some ice starting to turn blue but there’s still a long way to go for them to thaw. Parts of the road on the way up there still had 3+ feet of snow off to the sides. Robinson Creek as it exits Lower Twin isn’t running as high as I thought it would be, likely because the higher elevation snow hasn’t started melting much yet, hopefully a week from now we’ll have a better idea if the Twins will thaw by opener, there’s some warmer weather coming as well as some good winds so this will help it along. Bridgeport has several small open patches of water now with quite a bit of blue ice as well, I don’t think the ice is as thick as on the Twins and I feel like with the warmer weather and wind that’s coming Bridgeport may well be thawed out by the opener. There was still some snow at the “Bathtub” but I think it will likely thaw by opener (hopefully).
There’s still a couple feet of snow over much of the valley, it’s starting to melt fairly fast which unfortunately is causing flooding concerns in some areas. It’s been a wild ride this Winter, and it’s not over yet, hopefully things will melt in a timely manner so we can get back to the business of fishing!!
