Spring Chinook fishing is fair on the Nestucca River with fish being caught from the estuary upstream to 4th bridge. The river is getting low so boaters should use caution especially above Farmer Creek. Summer steelhead fishing on the Nestucca is still slow, but there are probably some around and fishing should continue to improve as the spring goes on. The upper river (from Moon Creek to Elk Creek) re-opened to hatchery steelhead fishing May 22, and some fish should be making their way up there by now.
Trout season reopened on the Nestucca basin on May 22 and there are cutthroat trout throughout the river. Sea-run cutthroat will begin entering the river system in July in better numbers.
