As we see the river clearing steadily down on the lower end of the river, we are excited to see what the McCloud will be fishing like up around Ah-Di-Na and the Conservancy very soon. How soon? Maybe in a week or two. Releases are around 200 CFS from the lake now and, while the river is cloudy up top, you can still have a pretty good day some big, dark flies. With Salmonflies, Golden Stones, Caddis and PMDs coming off, throw on a large Rubberlegs and a giant Bird's Nest and whale away! Stripping streamers in tailouts should get you tight to rainbows. Word from PG & E is they will block access to the Lake McCloud dam on or around the 1st of June. The work they will be doing on the dam is predicted to be completed some time in December.
