Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish was stocked last week. Another 1,000 pounds will go into the lake the week of July 10th. Catfish season will run until mid-October. We’ll stock a total of 8,500 pounds this season.

What’s the Catch? Lots of Bluegill and bass this weekend. Bass were biting on drop shot and shiners in most coves around the lake as well as the t-dock. The Bluegill were biting on worms (meal, wax, and ‘crawlers). Fishermen were casting out past the tulles and reeling in limits. We heard a report of trout still biting below 30 feet. With the stocking this weekend, the catfish bite was plentiful in the coves. Siesta and Cloister seemed to yield the most bites. Varieties of garlic bait seemed to be a popular choice for the cats.

Conditions: The water temperature around the dock is 70 degrees. Water temperatures are cooler than usual for this time of year. The dissolved oxygen is consistent throughout the water column. The sun is rising at 5:41 a.m. and setting at 7:59 p.m. New Moon is July 17th.
