Anglers reported a decent bite and heavy fishing pressure over the 4th of July. Bass anglers used jigs, weedless plastic worms, and topwater lures to fool bass. The best place to located biting bass was in or near the floating weed beds. Anglers pitched Senkos and weedless offerings into pockets and holes in the weed beds for bites. Be sure to ask the guys at Copes about using punching gear to get to the bass holding under the floating weeds. Catfish picked up fresh shrimp, dip bait, and chicken liver soaked on the bottom, and bluegill ate any live worm. A few crappie were reported by anglers using small live shiners under a bobber.
