Great news! We are experiencing an excellent striper bite at both the shores of the Colorado River and up on Lake Mohave. Our local angler, Mark Osgood, also known as the Corn Man, was fishing on Lake Mohave while trolling from his boat. He used a modified swim bait, which proved to be quite effective. He managed to catch a nice set of four stripers, with the largest one weighing 7.18 pounds and measuring 28 and 1/4 inches, while the smallest weighed 5.10 pounds and measured 25 and 1/5 inches.

Our younger angler, Eathen Merritt, was out fishing with his grandpa, Mike, and they successfully landed a nice striper along the river in the lower Big Bend area. An excellent tip for using anchovies as bait for stripers or catfish is to employ a bait wrap thread. By using the bait wrap thread, there's no need to tie a knot. Your hook size should be somewhere around 1, 2, 1/0-2/0; any size within this range will work well. Simply wrap the thread around the chunk of anchovy placed on your hook. This method allows you to use unfrozen anchovies while ensuring they stay securely attached to the hook. This enhances the scent and improves your hook-up rate.

We hope these tips prove helpful, and we eagerly anticipate your visit with your successful catch and your exciting story. Thank you so much for your continued support. Now, go catch a fish!
