Whiskeytown Lake continues to deliver quality kokanee salmon fishing. Daily limits have been the rule, with some larger fish up to 17 inches or so.

 

Kokanee salmon are a red-meat fish and are excellent eating. They are great in a pan, on the grill, or in a smoker.

 

If you've never been to Whiskeytown Lake, it's a beautiful lake near Redding. In between hookups, the scenery and relaxed fishing make for a very pleasant day on the water. 

 

It's the perfect fishing lake for idyllic summer memories, and makes a great family trip too.
