Our striped bass fishing is starting to yield some impressive results. Local anglers and brothers Mitch and Mike Jones recently caught a couple of sizable stripers. One weighed in at 9.48 pounds and measured 30.5 inches, while the larger fish tipped the scales at 11.02 pounds and stretched to 32.25 inches. They were fishing from the shore in the Rotary Park area using swim baits.
We haven't heard much from the lake or marsh areas this week, but the Colorado River is thriving. Reports suggest that the Community Park area and Big Bend area have been productive. With the changing seasons, lures are proving effective, and anchovies are a reliable bait choice.
Our shore anglers are having success, given the slightly lower water levels that make boating less safe. In fact, there was an incident where a patrol boat got stuck in the Big Bend area, and some shore folks had to help them off the rocks.
With that in mind, please keep an eye on the water levels and check the Davis Dam water releases for a safe trip. We hope this information is helpful, and we look forward to welcoming you to share your catches and stories. Most importantly, thank you for all your support!
