Upper Owens - 9/8/23 - Flows at 75CFS - Water Temp - 50's above the confluence

Rod Size: #5-#6 Weights

Tippet Size: 3-4X

Leader: 7.5ft-9ft 3-4X

Best Techniques: Streamers

Dry Flies: Hoppers, Caddis, Trico Spinners

Nymphs: Drowned Trico Spinners, Copper John, Worms, Micromayfly

Streamers: Anything

Lots of bugs down near the mouth of the river where it enters Crowley. Otherwise I've heard of some stockers being caught up near the confluence, but otherwise nothing to write home about. Hoppers never really materialized, and the Tricos are just about finished. It's fun fishing bigger caddis dries on light tackle up higher where the flows are lower and the water is cleaner, but aside from that it's all about covering water. Keep it moving and you'll eventually stumble into the fish.
