Striped bass fell for nightcrawlers, lugworms, and cut baits more than most other methods. However, lure anglers did fool fish with jerkbaits in Aurora Black, white, and some of the custom paint jobs by Get Bent Baits. Topwater walking baits fooled both striped bass and largemouth at first light, but it seems that only a select few experienced aqueduct anglers know the trick to getting bit on topwater lately. Talk with David Childress at Copes; he’s a master of aqueduct angling. Largemouth also fell for finesse baits fished in slower moving water and aqueduct irregularities like grates and manmade cuts into the side of the aqueduct walls. Catfish anglers soaked dip bait, chicken liver, and cut anchovies for good results.
