Monsoon is finally over and we are having wonderful weather. Cold mornings with beautiful afternoons (80 degrees 8.28), plenty of bugs to keep the fly fishers in trout heaven. NO problem if they pay attention to the rises.
BAIT: Worms, power worms, powerbait, micetails and pinched crawlers doing a great job. Recent stocking means lots of lures
LURES: 1.6 oz Red/gold Buoyant, silver/blue Kastmaster 1/8th oz, Rooster tails, Silver Super Duper 501, O gold Mepps, bleeding frog Buoyant and Taz Devil and any small gold spoons.
FLY AND BUBBLE: Black gnat red tail, tentwing caddis, Adams parachute, grey hackle yellow and Griffith's Gnat and any small dark flies.
FLY RODS: Early in the week streamers, dark and blue adult damsels, hoppers, prince nymph, and emergers. Great hatches the last few days before the rain, and dark mayflies (duns), blue damsels are hiding out until the rain stops. Matuka's, black crystal buggers produced during the rain but no one tried midges. Also try midges or even some flashy buggers and leeches. Lots of different flies have been working and getting the info out of the "fly" guys is tough.
BACKCOUNTRY: Not much news this week probably due to the weather.
