The truckee river has become really active over the last couple of weeks. With Cooler temperatures on the way, the fish are prepping for winter and eating much larger offerings presented to them. Around Tahoe City, flows are still fairly low on the Truckee River. Flows below Boca are much better right now, allowing anglers to try multiple tactics. Flows on the Truckee River are 50 CFS in the town of Truckee, 75 CFS near Glenshire and 449 CFS at the stateline.
Tips for the Week
Depending on the section of the Truckee River, anglers can use multiple techniques to get some bites right now. Indicator fishing has still been the most effective below the Boca confluence. Anglers should use smaller nymphs with some larger nymphs as an attractor fly. Fish are spread out in the the deeper water columns, so any area that is holding more water, don’t pass it up.
