While flows remain stable on the Truckee, the water temps have dropped this week, pushing fish into slow runs. The trout will be a bit less willing to move on your flies this week, and you will need to really bump them in the nose to get some love. This is a great time to begin fishing a high protein meal such as a worm or egg, and pair it with something small and dark such as a midge or baetis imitation. As fish sit further back in slow water and become a bit more lethargic, a well-presented streamer can be a deadly way to get some grabs from the larger trout. Just be sure to make every take count!
